Senior Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design and maintain high-performance Python applications for production, focusing on scalable data processing. You will work within a team to optimise CPU, memory, and I/O performance in a production-focused environment. The position emphasizes clean code, TDD, and reliable, scalable systems that handle large datasets on local infrastructure. You’ll tackle concurrency challenges with multithreaded and multiprocessing approaches while delivering robust software that supports data-intensive workflows. This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong emphasis on quality and performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production-grade Python applications
• Build high-throughput data processing pipelines handling large datasets on local server infrastructure
• Design and implement robust multithreaded and multiprocessing solutions
• Write clean, maintainable code within a TDD environment
• Optimise performance across CPU, memory, and I/O intensive workloads

• Strong commercial Python development experience
• Expert knowledge of multithreading, multiprocessing, and concurrency
• Proven track record working in a Test-Driven Development environment
• Experience building scalable, production-focused systems
• Strong understanding of software performance optimisation and clean code principles
• Experience working with big data and high-volume processing on localised infrastructure
