Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Pricing Service team, you will shape the engine that powers reward pricing across airlines, partners, and propositions. You will build scalable cloud-native backend services using Java, Spring Boot and AWS, influencing technical direction and mentoring engineers. The role combines design, implementation and production ownership, ensuring reliability and performance for millions of redemption requests. You work with cross-functional partners to translate business priorities into high-quality solutions, and participate in on-call incident response. This is a growth-focused, high-impact engineering role within IAG Loyalty.
Responsibilities- Own end-to-end backend features from design to production
- Build and maintain microservices with Java Spring Boot on AWS
- Implement Infrastructure as Code and manage cloud resources with Terraform
- Develop secure, scalable APIs and ensure testing, security and reliability
- Contribute to architectural discussions and engineering practice improvements
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews and pair programming
- Collaborate with Product Managers and partner teams across BA, Iberia, Aer Lingus and IAG
- Strong experience with backend development using Java and Spring Boot
- Experience building cloud-native solutions on AWS
- Terraform experience for infrastructure management
- Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing and best practices
- Ability to design secure, scalable APIs and troubleshoot distributed systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; mentoring experience
- Comfort with Agile methodologies and continuous improvement
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools is desirable
- Familiarity with observability tools (DataDog or SonarCloud) or loyalty/travel platforms is advantageous
