Senior .NET Developer | Up to £75,000 | Hybrid in Oxford

develop is partnering with a well-established, values-led ecommerce business to hire a Senior .NET Engineer who is looking to take the step into a Lead position. The role formalises technical leadership in a small, high-trust engineering team.

The business is mid-way through a major period of change: replatforming, a finance systems transformation, and legacy modernisation and cost optimisation on AWS. You’ll be a key voice in technical decisions, working closely with a CTO-level leader who is consulted on strategy by the senior leadership team.

The role

  • Roughly 60% hands-on development and 40% technical leadership. This is not a people-management role
  • Stay close to backend development and architecture
  • Set and maintain coding standards and engineering best practices
  • Lead code reviews across UK and Ukraine-based development teams
  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and lead proof-of-concept projects
  • Support the migration and modernisation of legacy systems into AWS
  • Help improve delivery speed, consistency and team performance

The environment

.NET / C#, AWS (ECS, SQS), Docker, microservices, SQL Server and NoSQL, Bitbucket CI/CD, with third-party and ecommerce platform integrations. Upcoming projects include a new pricing engine, order management and fulfilment improvements, with scope to explore AI/ML in pricing.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong commercial .NET / C# experience (around 6+ years, though track record matters more than years)
  • Strong AWS experience
  • Experience building and maintaining microservices
  • Good understanding of Docker, containers and modern CI/CD
  • Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • A proven record of code reviews and mentoring, with leadership experience either formal or informal
  • Collaborative and approachable, with strong opinions held lightly
  • Happy to stay hands-on and take ownership

Nice to have:

ECS and SQS, legacy migration, ecommerce integrations, AI/ML exposure.

What’s on offer

  • Salary up to £75,000
  • Strong benefits package
  • Flexible, relaxed working culture (Tues/Wed/Thurs in the office)
  • A purpose-led business with a strong charitable focus
