Swisslog are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on an advanced warehouse management system. Based out our Redditch head office the position can be hybrid or remote. Working in a collabarative team environment design and develop software solutions for manual and automated warehousing operations in support of the company’s complete product portfolio, following the Swisslog concepts and standards, rules and tools within the division. Supporting continuous improvement by a common way of working and efficient software development.

• Creates system designs, architectural and technical specification based on functional specification
• Devise appropriate design strategies and development methodologies in line with Swisslog’s standard approach
• Solid understanding of the customer’s operational working practices and requirements
• Coach and motivate junior members in the knowledge of existing products processes and procedures
• Ability to delegate task and motivational skills
• Interaction with off-shore development center on a technical level

Application Requirements

What you need to succeed

• Good understanding of Oracle Database Administration
• A good classification of engineering degree with experience in a similar environment
• Proven track record in at least one of the following:
• PL/SQL programming
• Oracle Forms & Reports development
• Understanding of real time programming, relational database concepts and architecture
• Java (SE & EE) is desirable
• Network and sockets programming is desirable
• At least 5 years’ experience in a commercial, real time software development environment
• Previous experience of working in a team providing software solutions in projects with tight budgets and timeframes
• Experience in programming of database applications
• Supply chain or logistics industry knowledge is desirable
