Senior Software Engineer

You will join the Hiscox London Market Engineering Team as a Software Engineer in a cross-functional squad. You’ll build cloud-first solutions while modernising on-prem and cloud systems, embracing AI-enabled development and agentic SDLC to accelerate delivery of high-value software. You’ll work in an agile, collaborative environment with product owners and stakeholders, shaping architecture and enforcing engineering standards. • Collaborate with your squad and stakeholders; take a technical lead to deliver business outcomes
• Write and review clean, maintainable code; apply SOLID, design patterns, unit testing, peer reviews, and CI/CD
• Ensure documentation is accurate; mentor on documentation and technical clarity
• Mentor team members; foster a culture of continuous learning
• Guide solution design; translate requirements into scalable, maintainable implementations
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to evolve architecture and promote best practices
• Champion security and engineering standards in line with organisational guidelines
• Adopt AI-assisted development tools; navigate the agentic SDLC evolution
• Foster collaboration across distributed teams (UK, Portugal, Poland, India) to ensure delivery alignment

• Academic degree in a related field or 5+ years in a Software Engineering role
• Strong hands-on experience in C# and .NET; design, develop, review code; write effective unit tests
• Strong background in SQL; production DB design, optimisation, maintenance
• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines; knowledge of source control and branching strategies
• Experience with Azure technologies (Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Azure API Management, Azure Service Bus) and event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies (Blazor, Angular, or React) is beneficial
