Senior Software Engineer - £140,000 plus 10% bonus and equity

We’re partnering with a profitable AI unicorn with more than 500 employees, recognised as one of the Top 50 companies to watch on the Pre-IPO Watchlist. The business is entering an exciting stage of growth, with its engineering teams working on technology operating at significant scale.

This is an opportunity to join a high-performing engineering organisation building systems that currently handle around 5,000 transactions per second with approximately 50ms latency. You’ll be working on challenging backend problems where performance, reliability and scalability are critical.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll take ownership of important services and technical projects, contributing across the full development lifecycle from architecture and system design through to implementation and production. You’ll work closely with other engineers and product teams, while having a real influence on how the platform evolves as it continues to scale.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build highly scalable backend services and distributed systems.
• Own complex technical projects from initial design through to production.
• Solve challenging problems around high throughput, low latency, reliability and scalability.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help establish strong engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver impactful features.

What We’re Looking For

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend development experience, ideally with Golang. (Java or Python considered)
• Proven experience building and operating high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, APIs and databases.
• Experience designing systems for scale and making pragmatic architectural decisions.
