Senior Software Engineer
Autodesk
As Senior Software Engineer, you will design and own major areas of the desktop platform built on Electron and Chromium to support Autodesk web applications. You will drive architecture decisions, secure boundaries between hosted web apps and desktop functionality, and mentor engineers across teams. You will collaborate across Electron, Chromium, Windows integrations, and build/release processes to ensure reliable delivery. This role helps shape reusable desktop capabilities for Autodesk products, starting with Forma.

- in-person onboarding
- Design, implement, and own significant areas of the Electron application (process architecture, native integrations, web-to-desktop interfaces, lifecycle)
- Own configuration and integration of the Chromium runtime (build settings, upgrades, feature enablement, compatibility)
- Design and implement Windows-native integrations (hardware discovery, process management, GPU preference, enterprise desktop behavior)
- Contribute to architecture decisions, security design, troubleshooting strategies, and maintainability of the platform
- Own moderately complex features from investigation to delivery
- Break ambiguous work into actionable tasks and coordinate with engineers and partner teams
- Design secure boundaries between hosted web apps and desktop functionality (isolation, IPC, navigation controls)
- Lead evaluation and adoption of new Electron/Chromium releases and assess impact on compatibility and performance
- Diagnose runtime, memory, startup, security, OS, and integration issues using Chromium tooling and native debuggers
- Collaborate with build/release to ensure runtime components can be built, packaged, tested, and released reliably
