Overview
In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will own substantial software work from specification to verified delivery within a specialist defence and maritime tech environment. You will apply strong C++ expertise to develop innovative radar and navigation software, while guiding and mentoring junior engineers. You will also act as a technical liaison with customers, suppliers and collaborators, shaping how software supports the company’s products. This is a chance to influence end-to-end software delivery on cutting‑edge sensor technology.
Responsibilities- Produce software for new, innovative and profitable products and solutions using good engineering practices
- Enhance and support existing software to meet commercial needs
- Oversee specification, design, implementation, testing and maintenance of software for products and services
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced colleagues, role modeling best practices
- Serve as technical liaison with customers, suppliers and collaborators on software matters
- Undertake additional project tasks as required by management
- Excellent understanding and hands-on experience of C++
- Experience taking projects through the full software development life cycle
- Good written and verbal English communication skills
- Good understanding of Microsoft Visual Studio (2022/2026)
- Experience with GUI/UX or HCI would be desirable
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, PowerShell) would be advantageous
