Overview
As a Senior Engineer on the Axon Alerts team in London, you design, build, and deliver the alerting platform that notifies the right people at the right time. You help ensure high availability and low latency for a mission-critical system that ingests diverse device data, enriches metadata, and routes alerts across channels. You mentor peers and help elevate engineering practices, dashboards, and incident response. This role combines hands-on delivery with cross-team collaboration to improve public safety outcomes.

- Lead architectural reviews and guide system design for high availability and low latency
- Build services for ingestion, enrichment, and routing of alerts across multiple channels
- Mentor engineers and raise technical bar through code and architecture reviews
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver integrated solutions
- Improve engineering processes, including planning, sprint rituals, and architectural thinking
- Enhance operational excellence with metrics, observability dashboards, and incident prevention
- Work with cloud-based and open-source technologies to solve real-time challenges
- Drive cross-team initiatives to improve reliability and user impact
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience designing and delivering highly-available, scalable cloud-based systems
- Backend service experience in Java, Scala, Go, C#, or similar
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL data stores, queue services, cache services, or gateway services
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices and open-source technologies
- Customer-driven mindset and ability to handle novel challenges
