Senior Software Engineer (Backend, Python)

In this role, you’ll help strengthen the core backend powering Octopus Electroverse’s global EV charging platform. You’ll work with a small, high-energy team to implement pricing, discounts, and subscription features, while ensuring robust payment processing and reporting. The position offers a chance to influence backend scalability as the business expands internationally and scales new charging experiences. You will collaborate across product, operations, and finance to deliver value and maintain commercial stability. This is a hands-on, impact-driven opportunity within a fast-growing EnTech environment.

• Improve core product by developing pricing and discount mechanisms
• Improve accuracy of financial reporting and payment success rates across providers
• Expand charging subscription offering for flexibility and scale
• Collaborate in a small, cross-functional team to deliver high-quality customer outcomes
• Support Operations with payment-related issues and assist Finance with reporting systems

• 3+ years software experience, preferably with Django or similar Python frameworks
• Experience with monitoring and debugging applications and infrastructure
• Experience maintaining asynchronous processing systems (AMQP, Celery)
• Ability to discuss vision and propose creative solutions
• Knowledge of common security practices
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment
• Ability to write robust and fault-tolerant software
• Proficient understanding of Git
