Senior Software Engineer - Connex

As a Senior Connex Software Development Engineer, you will join a cross-functional SAFe team to advance Connex-based payment technologies. You will drive delivery across design, development, testing, deployment and documentation, while shaping integration and customer journey experiences. You will mentor juniors, promote reusable patterns, and contribute to a robust test strategy and automation across platforms. This role offers the chance to impact real-time payments and ATM networks within Mastercard’s global payments ecosystem.

• Participate in prioritisation with Product and Business stakeholders and own delivery tasks
• Automate build, operation, and testing of software
• Guide design, tests, and automation decisions within the team
• Report status and manage risks for the core application
• Drive service integration focused on customer journey
• Demonstrate progress to Product Owners and refine ownership areas
• Develop end-to-end technical understanding and dependency mapping
• Promote technology standards and review peers’ work
• Mentor newer team members and improve processes to reduce waste
• Share knowledge to foster reuse of patterns, libraries, and practices
• Contribute to test strategy including BDD, performance, resilience testing
• Design innovative test scenarios and lead real-time transaction testing across platforms
• Set up and maintain test automation frameworks
• Identify automation opportunities prioritized by risk
• Ensure traceability from requirements to acceptance criteria
• Drive automation across UI, APIs, CLIs, Connex, HP NonStop, and database layers
• Investigate customer-reported issues and resolve
• Build comprehensive test scenarios and acceptance tests in iterative deployments

• Connex on HP NonStop development background
• Financial hardware and security standards knowledge (ATM, HSM, PCI, OWASP)
• Online transaction processing and ATM processing knowledge
• TCP/IP and communication protocols
• Proficiency in TAL, COBOL, SCOBOL, and TACL
• EMV and chip-and-PIN technology understanding
• HP Non-Stop protocols, security, and utilities
• Financial industry protocols (ISO8583, ISO20022, LIS5, VISA, MasterCard, ATM protocols)
• Experience with GoldenGate, Electronic File Transfers, Java, UNIX, Spring, Hibernate, XML
• Proven development across multiple platforms
• Automation testing experience in Agile with BDD
• Hands-on automation testing with Selenium, Cucumber, Gherkin, Spring
• Comfort with demonstrations to stakeholders and pair programming
• Strong communication and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Proactive problem solving and passion for testing and development
• Experience in functional and non-functional automated testing
