Senior Software Engineer, Core AI Services

In this role you will design, develop and scale AI-enabled platform services and public APIs to support AI adoption across AVEVA’s product portfolio. You’ll work in a Scrum team to deliver secure, cloud-native capabilities with rapid prototyping and continuous improvement. You will collaborate across teams, ensure reliability and security, and mentor juniors, shaping AVEVA’s AI infrastructure across the partner ecosystem. • Collaborate with multiple teams to deliver AI solutions including model deployment, training, and AI tooling
• Build scalable, fault-tolerant cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure with high performance and reliability
• Develop secure, well-documented public APIs and SDKs for internal and external developers
• Work with data pipelines, orchestration and service APIs to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Embed robust security controls to protect data and secure access to AI services
• Contribute to design reviews, code reviews and architectural discussions
• Mentor junior developers and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning

• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and understanding of performance/cost trade-offs
• Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and tool calling
• Familiarity with AI standards MCP and A2A
• Strong foundation in ML algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, deep learning)
• Proficiency with AI tooling such as GitHub Copilot and prompt engineering for multiple tasks
• Experience with AI orchestration tools (AI Foundry and/or Semantic Kernel)
• Proficiency in Python and AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and PaaS services (Azure Functions, AKS, API Management); AWS/GCP experience is valued
• Extensive software engineering experience, preferably in platform or cloud-native service development using Microsoft/.NET technologies
• Strong RESTful API design, versioning, testing and lifecycle management; secure API practices
