Tesco
Salary: £36,000 - 76,000 per year
Requirements:
- We are looking for someone who takes ownership and fixes problems without waiting to be asked.
- We need someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and can navigate unclear problems without handholding.
- We want someone who writes readable, tested code that other engineers want to work with.
- We need someone with experience across backend services and data systems in production.
- We need someone who can pick up new technology without being overly attached to what they already know.
- We are looking for strong TypeScript and Python skills, or a willingness to learn quickly.
- We need experience building or operating data-intensive backend services.
- We would like some experience with LLM APIs or retrieval systems.
- Kubernetes and cloud-native deployment experience is useful.
- Supply chain or forecasting domain knowledge is useful but not required.
- Nice to have: experience contributing to shared frontend/backend or developer platform infrastructure.
- Nice to have: infrastructure as code experience, including Helm, Kubernetes manifests, and CI/CD pipeline design.
- Nice to have: supply chain, replenishment, or demand forecasting domain familiarity.
Responsibilities:
- We are responsible for building a high-performance data platform that brings together analytical, caching, vector, and object stores behind a clean typed API.
- We work on supply chain intelligence layers that make forecasting outputs accessible, actionable, and explainable through well-designed APIs.
- We ensure the right data reaches the right place at the right time and remains fresh.
- We build and improve a conversational and tool-calling LLM integration layer for natural language access to platform data and forecasts.
- We work on retrieval quality, tool design, prompt architecture, and streaming response pipelines.
- We own problems end to end across data engineering, applied ML, and developer infrastructure.
- We may design data APIs, improve retrieval in RAG pipelines, and work with infrastructure to get services into production.
