Senior Software Engineer (Developer Tooling)

In this role you build and own the developer-facing tools at the heart of Cloudsmith, shaping the CLI, provider integrations, and IDE extensions. You’ll ensure durable, platform-grade tooling that scales with the core platform and supports thousands of engineers. You work closely with customers and internal teams to translate real pain points into reusable tooling. You’ll champion developer experience and automate where possible, helping Cloudsmith’s users ship securely and efficiently.

• Build and maintain developer-facing integrations (CLI, Terraform provider, MCP server, IDE/LSP extensions) as first-class platform products
• Design stable interfaces with versioning and backward compatibility in mind
• Own full lifecycle from design to release and long-term support
• Stay aligned with the platform to keep tooling in sync with evolution
• Translate customer feedback into durable tooling improvements
• Advocate for excellent developer experience across tooling
• Drive automation in testing, releases, and validation

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong API and interface design instincts
• Proficiency in at least one strongly-typed language (Go, Python, TypeScript, or similar)
• Security awareness in coding practices and credential handling
• Familiarity with CI/CD ecosystems and modern DevOps toolchains
• Clear, confident written communication (RFCs, changelogs, READMEs)
