Senior Software Engineer - DevX

In this role you help embed autonomous AI agents into n8n’s engineering lifecycle, shaping safe, measurable, and scalable agentic development. You will evolve platform foundations, guardrails, and processes with cross-functional teams to improve speed, quality, and learning from shipping. You’ll build and refine the paved path for agentic workflows, balancing security with productivity in a remote-first, builder-led environment. • Define safe task categories for autonomous agents including access rules and review gates
• Design isolated execution environments to protect secrets and sensitive systems
• Build pilot workflows to convert selected Linear issues into draft PRs
• Create and maintain repo instructions, agent playbooks, and governance guidelines
• Improve developer workflows, repo structure, testability, and documentation based on agent outcomes
• Partner with Architecture and senior engineers to set boundaries and context for agents
• Integrate agentic workflows with Linear, GitHub, CI, testing infrastructure, and review processes
• Design PR evidence templates to communicate changes, tests, risks, and human review needs
• Establish guardrails for sensitive areas like auth, billing, and data handling with cross-team input
• Create benchmarks to measure output quality, safety, adoption, and production risk
• Define quality signals and adoption metrics (e.g., draft PR usefulness, reviewer acceptance, CI pass rate)
• Use pilot feedback to improve agent workflows and reduce unsafe attempts

• Autonomous coding agents experience (AI coding platforms, agent orchestration systems, or internal tooling)
• Practical experience building/deploying AI-assisted or agentic software development workflows
• Strong software engineering foundations in platform engineering, DX, infrastructure, tooling, CI/CD, or productivity
• Ambiguity leadership across problem definition to pilot, adoption, and iteration
• Deep understanding of modern engineering workflows: GitHub, CI, testing, code review, monorepos, developer environments, release risk
• Safety-focused judgment on permissions, secrets, sandboxing, sensitive code paths, and human-in-the-loop review
• Measurable systems thinking with capability to design benchmarks and adoption metrics
• Clear written communication for repo instructions, playbooks, proposals, and alignment documents
• Cross-functional influence across Platform, Product Engineering, AI, Security, and Architecture
• Nice-to-have: TypeScript monorepos, GitHub Actions, Linear, automated testing infra, sandboxing, secrets management, or AI evaluation frameworks
