Overview
Senior Software Engineer in our Event Streaming Systems guild, building and operating scalable real-time streaming infrastructure. You work within Storage and influence critical production workloads across regions, shaping the long-term event platform used by engineering teams. You’ll tackle reliability, performance, and automation to support Tier-0 workflows at scale. This role offers a chance to impact a fast-moving, cross-border marketplace and help deliver resilient, event-driven products.

- Design, build and operate large-scale event streaming infrastructure for production workloads
- Improve reliability, scalability, observability and automation of Kafka, EventBus and related platforms
- Debug complex distributed systems, including performance bottlenecks and capacity constraints
- Develop infrastructure automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce toil
- Contribute to incident response and operational readiness for Tier-0 infrastructure
- Collaborate with EventBus, Storage, SRE, Data Platform and Core Infrastructure teams across US and EU
- Shape the long-term architecture and evolution of Deliveroo’s event streaming platform
- Distributed systems experience in production
- Experience with Kafka or similar event streaming systems
- Strong coding ability in Java, Go, Python or similar for production systems
- Experience operating scalable production infrastructure and improving reliability
- Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, observability, capacity management
- Good fundamentals in Linux, networking and JVM-based systems
- Strong collaboration and communication across platform, infrastructure and product teams
