Senior Software Engineer, FiveM

In this role you join Rockstar’s Creator Platform Team in Leeds to support low-level game tech used by community-created content platforms. You will help maintain, improve, and scale code for FiveM and RedM, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable tools and services. You’ll tackle complex, performance-sensitive challenges “under the hood” of modern games and contribute to a platform that empowers creators. This is an opportunity to shape how players build and share varied game experiences within a large, creative studio culture.
Responsibilities- Maintain and improve codebases with high quality, stability, and efficiency in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Coordinate release processes across branches with production and engineering for quality readiness
- Identify, prioritize, and resolve critical issues to maintain system stability
- Drive release planning, deployment, and rollback procedures
- Enhance build, test, and release automation pipelines to improve workflows and deployment reliability
- Monitor platform health, performance metrics and KPIs post-release to drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with Creator Platform and broader Rockstar teams to develop robust solutions for complex software challenges
- 5+ years of experience on a software development team using C++
- Strong understanding of computing fundamentals
- Ability to manage large code bases and assess risk of changes
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills in C++
- Understanding of memory layout considerations related to padding and cache efficiency
- Analytical skills for measuring system performance and memory use, with good communication to propose solutions
- Experience with source control workflows (branch management, code integration, conflict resolution)
- Proficiency with GitLab and/or GitHub including CI/CD systems
- Ability to collaborate positively with other departments across Rockstar studios
