As a Senior Software Engineer in the M&S Foods Product team, you will help shape a modern data platform that serves suppliers, pricing, product lifecycle and critical supply-chain data. You’ll build scalable data services and APIs in Java, driving reliable data delivery to downstream systems and users. You’ll own features end‑to‑end, influence platform architecture, and champion engineering excellence with a focus on quality and sustainability. - Build and evolve data services and APIs in Java and Micronaut, integrating with Kafka for streaming
- End-to-end feature ownership from design to production monitoring
- Contribute to platform architecture, emphasizing clean data contracts and scalable schemas
- Promote engineering excellence through maintainable code, testing, reviews, and documentation
- Enhance observability and reliability of data integrations using tools like Dynatrace
- Collaborate with Product, cross-functional teams, and business units to solve real problems
- Mentor junior engineers and foster an inclusive learning culture
- Engage in CI/CD improvements and containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes) and IaC automation (Terraform)
- 5+ years building and scaling data-intensive distributed systems
- Proficiency in one or more JVM languages (Java) and Micronaut experience
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and Terraform for infrastructure automation
- Cloud experience (Azure preferred) and familiarity with Kafka, SFTP, MongoDB, relational/NoSQL databases
- Understanding of data modelling, domain-driven design, and data contracts
- Awareness of security practices and usage of tools like Snyk and Semgrep
