Overview
In this role you will contribute to multiple teams across Deliveroo, leading projects and shaping technical outcomes. You will improve code structure, architecture, and production system health, while collaborating with PMs and Experience teams to deliver high-impact features. You’ll drive design decisions, help plan work, and mentor colleagues, including participation in hiring. This is a scale-oriented, cross-functional engineering role in London that emphasizes impactful, readable, well-tested software and operational excellence. You will play a key part in shaping the roadmap and contributing to the company’s mission of transforming the way the world eats.

- Improve code structure and architecture; review code across scope of team
- Lead team project planning, manage dependencies and risks
- Partner with PM and Experience teams to deliver results
- Simplify maintenance and operation of production systems; promote visibility and health
- Build relationships with other engineering teams; identify collaboration opportunities
- Break down large pieces of work; guide design and implementation decisions; influence team roadmap
- Participate in hiring and support the growth of colleagues; mentoring and coaching
- Pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested software
- Experience writing web-based applications in any language; willingness to learn Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, or Rust
- Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Familiarity with web architecture at scale (20krpm and above)
- Familiarity with NoSQL backends and tools such as Redis, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Memcache
