Overview

As Director of Software Engineering for full-stack applications, you steer the strategy, development, and delivery of Java, React, and Python-based systems that power Fitch’s analytical capabilities. You will lead cross-functional teams, shaping scalable, data-heavy software used across the ratings business. You’ll partner with Enterprise Data and Architecture to ensure robust, timely delivery and data migrations. Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the software engineering strategy for full-stack apps in line with business roadmaps
  • Mentor and lead software engineering teams to cultivate innovation and excellence
  • Oversee architecture, design, and delivery of Java/React/Python applications ensuring scalability and maintainability
  • Lead data migration initiatives ensuring smooth transitions
  • Contribute to tooling, standards, and agile delivery practices across the engineering function
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects to meet scope and timelines
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless software delivery
  • Establish and measure metrics for engineering quality, operations, and agility
Key requirements
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven experience with Java, React, and Python
  • Track record delivering large-scale, high-performance applications
  • Strong data migrations experience and relational database design
  • Extensive PostgreSQL and RTDMS experience
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and microservices architecture
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
