Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack – Java) — SC Cleared

My client is a specialist software consultancy delivering bespoke solutions to solve complex operational problems for Central Government customers. As their team grows, they're looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to join a live delivery team working on mission-critical systems used by government caseworkers and citizens.

The role

You'll work full lifecycle — from requirements and architecture through to delivery, support, and maintenance — on a Java, TypeScript and React stack, deployed across AWS and Azure. You'll be based out of one of the client's UK offices (choose your own office/home balance under their hybrid policy), with roughly fortnightly in-person time with the end client.

Depending on experience, there's real scope to grow into technical leadership — owning architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and managing client relationships directly.

What you'll be doing

• Designing, building, and testing full-stack solutions using Java (backend) and React/TypeScript (frontend)
• Building and maintaining CI pipelines in GitLab, with a strong focus on code quality and security
• Deploying and operating systems across AWS and Azure
• Working directly with government stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical solutions
• Depending on seniority: leading design decisions, mentoring junior engineers, and owning client relationships

What we're looking for

• Comfortable working across both AWS and Azure
• Consultancy background is a plus but not essential — they care more about your delivery track record
• Genuinely enjoy working directly with clients and translating ambiguous requirements into shipped software
