Senior Software Engineer I - Cash Management

In this role you will help build and scale Wise’s global payment network within the Wise for Banks team. You’ll design robust, highly available services in Java/Spring Boot and lead event-driven initiatives using Kafka to support partner integrations. You’ll work across engineering, product and business teams to expand the platform for worldwide money transfers, mentoring engineers and driving best practices. • Design, develop and maintain scalable Java/Spring Boot services in a microservices architecture
• Apply domain-driven design to build robust solutions
• Lead development in event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems
• Architect and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries for performance and scalability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support partner integrations and expand the Wise platform
• Participate in code reviews, promote best practices, and mentor junior engineers

• Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend services
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture and event-driven design
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization
• Proficiency in domain-driven design (DDb) is a plus
• Strong product mindset and user-focused approach with data-driven decision making
