Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer II on Dedrone’s Infrastructure Services, you design and evolve core systems that power developer platforms and backend services. You’ll blend software fundamentals with infrastructure expertise to build scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native solutions. You shape architectural decisions, CI/CD, and runtime environments to support the product ecosystem. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to raise standards and velocity, contributing to a mission-driven environment that values ownership and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain production-grade backend services (Java, Go, or Python) powering deployment orchestration and internal APIs
  • Contribute to architectural decisions including service boundaries, APIs, persistence, scalability, and fault tolerance
  • Improve platform reliability and maintainability via strong testing and thoughtful system design
  • Own and evolve shared services managed by the Infrastructure Services team
  • Own, design, and optimize CI/CD systems to reduce build times and deployment friction
  • Provide reusable templates and tooling to improve self-service capabilities for product teams
  • Design and maintain scalable, secure AWS infrastructure using IaC (Terraform or AWS CDK)
  • Architect and optimize Docker images and container workflows; support ECS, EKS, Kubernetes
  • Strengthen observability with metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting using Grafana and CloudWatch
  • Contribute to security improvements across CI/CD, IAM, secrets management, and cloud hardening
  • Establish high standards in service design, code quality, and automation; collaborate with product and platform teams
Key requirements
  • Backend engineering experience with ownership of APIs, reliability, and scalability
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Go, or Python
  • Experience designing distributed systems and understanding concurrency, networking, failure modes, and scaling
  • Deep familiarity with AWS or modern cloud environments
