Overview

As a Senior Engineer in Engineering Experience, you will shape the tools that boost productivity for Wise’s 1,200+ engineers. You’ll own agentic tooling, build an internal knowledge base, and drive AI enablement to make daily development smoother. You will partner with cross‑functional teams to design practical, secure, and observable solutions that scale. This role offers hands-on software work, teaching, and leading change to turn ambitious ideas into everyday engineering habits. You will contribute to a forward‑looking AI‑first engineering culture that prioritizes people and collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Own and operate agentic tooling used by engineers across Wise, including security, access control, telemetry, and evaluation
  • Build an engineering knowledge base exposed via an MCP server for trusted internal context
  • Lead AI enablement through workshops, guidance, and adoption campaigns
  • Create and operate products that remove friction in software development from local setup to deployment
  • Improve the developer portal and shared engineering services for discoverability and actionability
  • Identify common problems from research, feedback, and data and translate them into time-saving software changes across Wise
Key requirements
  • Senior engineer with polyglot experience (Java, Go, TypeScript); expert in at least one
  • Proven track record delivering production software from design to reliable operation
  • Strong software design judgment with well-defined boundaries, interfaces, and observability
  • Hands-on experience using agentic tools to deliver real user stories with correct context and evaluation
  • Passion for AI developer tooling and continuous learning
  • Experience building internal platforms or tooling used by other engineers
  • Experience leading large technical initiatives and maintaining delivery momentum
  • Strong communication and ability to explain technical ideas to varied audiences
  • Workshop facilitation and advocacy for change across a large engineering organization
  • Empathy for engineers as users and customer-centric mindset
