Overview

In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will design and build high-performance, low-latency Java services for Citi’s Global Fixed Income Trade Processing team in Belfast. You will contribute to large, distributed systems that handle high trade volumes and integrate with fixed income markets. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver robust client solutions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This is a hands-on role shaping scalable trade processing capabilities within a collaborative, technology-driven culture.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-performance, low-latency, multi-threaded Java applications
  • Contribute to distributed systems for capture and processing of large volumes of fixed income trades
  • Build RESTful services and microservices using Spring Boot and related Spring modules
  • Leverage CI/CD pipelines and build tools (Maven/Gradle) to enable rapid delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage priorities and deadlines
  • Utilize Linux/Unix environments and relational databases; ensure reliable error handling and robustness
Key requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.)
  • Extensive Java development experience with multi-threaded architectures
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and OOP fundamentals
  • Proficiency with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security)
  • Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with Maven/Gradle, Jira, Git/Bitbucket, CI/CD tools (TeamCity, UrbanCode Deploy)
  • Linux/Unix experience and SQL relational databases
  • Exposure to cloud-related tools (Artifactory, Docker, OpenShift)
  • Knowledge of fixed income products or trading platforms is a plus
