Senior Software Engineer - (Java/AI) Brokerage Services

In this role you will drive AI-enabled software tooling for Brokerage Services, building and integrating AI into daily engineering work. You will own parts of the development lifecycle from design to production, collaborating with product and security teams. You’ll push toward an automated, self-running engineering pipeline with AI-assisted coding, testing, and deployment. This is a hands-on position that values strong Java expertise and practical judgment. The opportunity combines high-scale fintech domain work with advancing AI-driven development at IG.

• Build and maintain internal tooling that embeds AI into day-to-day engineering work (coding assistants, AI-assisted test generation, deployments, defect triage).
• Improve observability of the AI-assisted pipeline to show tooling activity, detection, and gaps.
• Identify manual steps in coding, testing, and release that can be automated and largely unattended.
• Break work into small, releasable pieces and ship continuously.
• Collaborate with a product owner to ground development in real delivery.
• Promote continuous improvement and AI adoption as core delivery practice.
• Work with test and PM to bring AI into the testing pipeline (exploratory test generation, defect clustering, flaky-test detection, smarter test prioritisation).
• Evaluate and integrate LLM-based developer tools (e.g., Claude Code) with Jira, Confluence, and GitLab, safely.
• Define and refine standards for responsible AI use in SDLC (data handling, prompt hygiene, data protection).
• Mentor junior engineers in effective AI tooling usage, and coordinate with security/compliance on regulatory requirements.
• Track metrics (cycle time, defect escape rate, test coverage, delivery turnaround) and iterate based on data.

• Extensive background as a Software Engineer with production system experience.
• Solid hands-on expertise in Java or a comparable backend service ecosystem.
• Fluency in test-driven development and pair programming.
• Proven ownership of features or systems from design to production support.
• Strong drive for automation and removing manual steps.
• Experience evaluating or using LLM-based developer tools in real engineering contexts.
