Overview

In this role you lead backend development for a highly scalable platform at a growing tech team in renewable energy. You will work in an agile, cross-functional environment with autonomy, shaping the platform and contributing to technical strategy. Expect to tackle distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and real-time data challenges that impact asset management and market responsiveness. You will mentor engineers and drive pragmatic technical decisions to deliver a reliable, high-availability platform. This is a hands-on role with meaningful, real-world impact and collaboration across Product and Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership to design, build, and evolve core platform components
  • Develop high-quality, scalable Go backend services
  • Tackle distributed systems and cloud infrastructure challenges
  • Contribute to the platform's availability, reliability, and roadmap
  • Define and deliver longer-term technology strategy and platform roadmap
  • Collaborate with Product and other stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions
  • Own technical problems and drive delivery to completion
  • Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices
  • Stay current with emerging technologies to improve the platform
  • Work in an agile, cross-functional team to deliver value
Key requirements
  • Strong commercial backend software engineering experience
  • Professional experience with Go/Golang or another strongly typed language
  • Experience with AWS and cloud-native technologies
  • Experience with microservices and distributed systems
  • Experience with multiple database technologies
  • Experience with CI/CD and modern software development practices
  • Track record of contributing to technology strategy and roadmaps
  • Experience taking ownership of complex technical problems and delivering pragmatic solutions
  • Strong communication skills to explain concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring or guiding other engineers
  • Adaptable and organized in a fast-moving environment
