Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Riverlane, you will own and drive the Deltakit platform—building, refining, and scaling its features for researchers in the quantum error correction space. You’ll bridge research and engineering, delivering robust, user‑friendly software that supports a growing open‑source community. You’ll shape technical direction, enable adoption by researchers and engineers, and ensure the platform remains reliable and impactful. This role offers meaningful work at the frontier of QEC with cross‑functional collaboration and visible impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead major parts of the internal and external software stack for error-corrected quantum computing systems
  • Turn internal tools into external/public ones; own end‑to‑end software lifecycle (design, development, testing, builds, releases)
  • Mentor and lead engineers in the team
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams to integrate software/hardware artifacts with Deltakit
  • Engage with researchers and users to identify needs and translate feedback into improvements
  • Contribute to open‑source projects and lead the Deltakit community
  • Organise and run workshops and tutorials for the user community
Key requirements
  • Strong technical foundation in CS, mathematics, physics or similar
  • Experience designing and building high‑quality scientific/technical software, mainly in Python
  • Ability to translate complex research concepts into robust, scalable solutions
  • Broad understanding of software systems (compilers, OS, computer architecture)
  • Experience shipping software to users and maintaining high engineering standards
  • Curiosity and drive to learn and solve complex problems
  • Collaborative mindset with cross‑functional teamwork
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to shape technical direction and mentor others
  • Interest in contributing to the quantum open‑source ecosystem
