Overview

In this role you will design and evolve the Order Management platform to enable seamless customer fulfilment from checkout to delivery, amendments, and returns. You’ll join a team that backs product and fulfilment teams with reliable, scalable systems and strong engineering practices. You’ll shape technical direction, improve architecture and integrations, and drive observability and resilience across the platform. This is your chance to impact one of the UK’s largest retail operations, solving complex fulfilment challenges and modernising enterprise software. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver faster, more confident outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and evolve order management capabilities across checkout, fulfilment, returns, amendments, and cancellations
  • Own features end-to-end from solution design to deployment and production support
  • Shape technical direction of the Order Management platform (architecture, integration patterns, automation, reliability, security)
  • Drive operational excellence with observability, monitoring, resilience, and supportability
  • Use Dynatrace to improve platform visibility, monitoring, and alerting
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering teams, and Fulfilment stakeholders to solve business challenges and accelerate delivery
Key requirements
  • Senior software engineer with deep backend experience in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong knowledge of IBM Sterling Order Management and large-scale ecommerce fulfilment challenges
  • Strong Java engineering skills for enterprise services, APIs, and distributed systems
  • Experience with CI/CD, observability, production support, and operational excellence
  • Comfort designing resilient, recoverable, and well-supported systems
