Senior Software Engineer (Entertainment Release QA) at Sky focuses on building and maintaining automation to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of Smart TV and streaming devices. You will work within the RDK Pre-Release Operations Engineering Organisation to certify products before market release and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The role combines test automation, BDD, and DevOps practices to optimize test coverage and accelerate releases. You will shape how we validate video playback, content discovery, and streaming integrity at scale, making entertainment better for millions of customers.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions for QA across Smart TV and streaming devices, focusing on video playback, content discovery, UX, streaming integrity, and device interoperability
  • Own tooling and test automation infrastructure: tool selection, environment configuration, and integration with version control
  • Collaborate in agile settings: sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives to align teams
  • Apply BDD and test automation to create efficient test plans on RDK stacks and integrate with CI/CD pipelines
  • Explore advanced topics like test data management and scenario refactoring to improve test coverage
Key requirements
  • Expert level experience in building and maintaining full-stack development with Java, Python and JavaScript
  • Automating solutions in Cypress and Automatics Framework
  • Strong ability to identify root causes of defects on Smart TV and streaming apps
  • Experience automating onboarding of Smart TV and streaming devices and related interfaces (AirPlay, ATSC, Bluetooth, HDMI)
  • Proficient in DevOps practices with end-to-end ownership, observability, and process optimization
  • Strong BDD and test automation and infrastructure experience
  • Familiarity with Business-Driven Development strategy and CI/CD integration
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering and optimizing test coverage through risk-based approaches
  • Collaborative and cross-functional teamwork
