Senior Software Engineer, Search & Recommendations

In this role you will help build large-scale services powering Roku's browse and discovery platform, enabling millions of users to access content. You will collaborate with product and design teams to move features from idea to production and leverage AI-powered development tools to accelerate coding. You will work on scalable, reliable systems with a global impact, shaping the future of TV discovery and advertising. • Build extremely large-scale platform products and services used by engineers and consumers
• Collaborate with Product and Design to take concepts from ideation to production and support
• Lead evaluation of new technologies and promote best practices across the dev lifecycle
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Participate in Agile processes across design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Leverage AI-powered development tools to speed up coding workflows and productivity

• Strong software development experience in Java (Python a plus)
• Expertise building large-scale cloud services, ideally in AWS
• Experience selecting data stores and analyzing trade-offs
• Experience with in-memory caching (Redis, Redis Cluster, Memcached)
• Track record of monitoring deployment quality and troubleshooting production systems
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end web architecture from device to data center
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated fluency with agentic engineering toolchain and related tools; ability to drive an agent and ramp on unfamiliar codebases
