In this role you will shape the GitLab Duo CLI and its ecosystem, delivering AI-assisted terminal experiences for developers. You’ll influence long-term direction and ensure high quality, performance, and reliability across the CLI and related tooling. You work with cross-functional teams to align architectural choices with GitLab’s broader strategy. You’ll mentor others and champion security and developer experience as the product grows. This position offers remote collaboration, impactful architecture decisions, and opportunities across IDE integrations.

- Own the design, development, and evolution of GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition to rollout and iteration
- Build interactive terminal experiences in TypeScript with careful command/flag design, output formatting, and backward compatibility
- Improve reliability, observability, and performance of the CLI while reducing technical debt
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineers to align decisions with GitLab's strategy
- Champion product quality, security, and developer experience through reviews and mentorship
- Contribute to IDE extension work (JetBrains plugin in Kotlin and VS Code extension in TypeScript)
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript
- Experience building or maintaining command-line tools or developer tooling
- Experience owning technical problems end to end and guiding code reviews/mentorship
- Clear written and spoken English; comfortable in remote/asynchronous environments
- Alignment with GitLab values and inclusive culture
- Experience with IDE extension development and understanding of LSP is helpful but not required
