Senior Software Java Engineer I - Reliability

As a Senior Software Engineer in Wise’s Reliability Engineering team, you will help boost the reliability, performance, and compliance of core Wise services. You’ll collaborate across product and platform teams to implement scalable, resilient backend solutions in a cloud environment. You’ll drive improvements in capacity, autoscaling, and observability to support our growing global user base. This role combines hands-on coding with influencing how teams prioritise reliability and customer experience.

• Identify opportunities to optimise performance of critical backend microservices and improve common libraries used across Wise
• Develop and implement org-wide, resilient strategies addressing capacity, autoscaling, resiliency, performance, and redundancy
• Deep-dive with teams to propose best practices and implement reliability improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bridge Product and Platform and drive org-wide reliability initiatives

• Product engineering background with high impact potential
• Strong collaboration and ability to work with limited context
• Experience with microservices in Kubernetes/cloud architectures
• Hands-on software engineering experience (Java or other backend languages)
• Troubleshooting experience for application, database, and data-related issues
