Senior Solution Architect

In this role you will shape application transformation and modernization efforts, guiding architecture across cloud and on‑prem environments. You’ll collaborate with business and IT teams to design modular, scalable solutions aligned with enterprise standards. You’ll lead governance, risk mitigation, and stakeholder buy‑in for technical initiatives while fostering Agile and DevSecOps practices. This is a hands‑on architecture leadership role that drives impactful, fundable initiatives and technology innovation within Munich Re. You’ll stay at the forefront of technology to deliver cost‑effective, high‑performing systems.

• Develop roadmaps for applications transformation and modernization
• Create modular, reusable solution designs with business and IT collaboration while aligning with enterprise standards
• Define high‑level operational models and prepare business cases compliant with IT security and quality guidelines
• Present business cases for approval, funding and prioritisation of technical initiatives
• Maintain architecture governance, patterns, and technology standards
• Be the accountable approver for solutions you architected
• Enable Agile and DevSecOps practices with product delivery and operations teams
• Evaluate and promote technology innovations within the organisation
• Review high‑level designs, code, and enforce best practices; assist with debugging and performance testing
• Identify technology risks and develop mitigation strategies
• Stay current with cutting‑edge technologies and market trends to justify alternative solutions
• Support requirements gathering to right‑size initiatives and strategy
• Collaborate with development teams to apply Agile and DevSecOps in architecture
• Create comprehensive solution architecture specification documents

• Exceptional analytical and critical thinking with attention to detail
• Strong planning, documentation and problem‑solving skills
• Experience designing solutions across cloud and on‑prem with custom and COTS/MoTS apps
• Experience in policy administration systems, ERP, and customer/agent portals
• Deep knowledge of SDLC and scaled agile methodology; certifications preferred
• TOGAF certification is a significant plus
• Ability to lead at the highest technical level across architecture phases
• Proficiency in API based, microservices, and cloud technologies
• Experience with integration architectures from Service Bus to API mediation and event bus models
• Awareness of contemporary technologies and business trends to solve problems creatively and cost‑effectively
• Experience roadmapping enterprise application portfolios from current to desired state
• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or related tech discipline or equivalent work experience
• Hands‑on experience with cloud technologies
• 7+ years IT experience with 6+ years architecture experience
