Overview

As a Shopify theme engineer and front-end expert, you will design and deliver high-performance Shopify storefronts using a headless approach when applicable. You will work within cross-functional teams to implement end-to-end eCommerce solutions, leveraging modern JS/TS tooling and best practices to scale and automate delivery. Your work will center on creating robust, maintainable front-end architectures that align with our Shopify-based systems and services. This role offers the chance to influence platform choices and drive efficient, high-quality implementations.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement end-to-end eCommerce storefronts on Shopify, including headless approaches when beneficial
  • Build and maintain scalable front-end architectures using React, TS, HTML5/CSS3 and Tailwind
  • Collaborate with back-end, product, and QA to ensure seamless integrations with OMS/IMS/WMS and payment/tax services
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (Playwright)
  • Adopt TDD and coding standards; ensure accessibility and performance considerations
  • Identify automation opportunities and streamline delivery through tooling and process improvements
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to a collaborative team culture
Key requirements
  • 10+ years in software development
  • Shopify platform experience required
  • Experience with Shopify Hydrogen framework (React) preferred
  • Proven ability to build end-to-end eCommerce solutions with Shopify and connected systems (OMS/IMS/WMS, payments, tax engine)
  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind proficiency
  • Node.js experience; ES2019+; ESLint and coding standards
  • Knowledge of APIs, webhooks, data transfer approaches
  • Ability to design and implement complex, scalable systems
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience with Agile, Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience with CI/CD
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (Playwright)
