Overview

As Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will architect Tide’s agentic platform and shape shared capabilities for AI systems to operate safely, reliably, and at scale. You’ll drive cross-team collaboration to turn use cases into reusable platform features, establish reliability and security standards, and optimize costs for LLM providers. You’ll lead technical decisions, evaluate external components, and build automated evaluation pipelines for agent reasoning and safety. This role is pivotal for delivering a scalable, trusted platform that compounds value across Tide’s productivity and risk management.

Responsibilities
  • Define the architecture for Tide’s agentic platform
  • Design and standardize shared services (context APIs, tool layers, policy controls, auditability)
  • Partner with product, data, security, and engineering to turn use cases into platform capabilities
  • Set standards for reliability, safety, scalability, and developer experience
  • Provide technical leadership across teams and unblock critical decisions
  • Implement cost-management and routing logic to optimize LLM spend across providers
  • Design and build automated evaluation pipelines to measure agent reasoning accuracy and safety trajectories
Key requirements
  • Deep experience building platform or infrastructure systems at scale
  • Strong judgement across APIs, distributed systems, data, and cloud-native architecture
  • Track record of leading complex cross-team technical problems
  • Experience integrating third-party platforms without losing control of core architecture
  • Strong understanding of reliability, security, and observability
  • Experience with AI platform components is valuable but not essential
  • Experience in highly regulated industries (Fintech, Healthtech) where safety and compliance are core to the product is desirable
  • Strong cross-team collaboration
  • Judgement and decision-making under uncertainty
  • Problem-solving and unblocking critical technical decisions
  • Java, Spring Boot, and JOOQ for RESTful microservices
  • Distributed systems and cloud-native architecture
  • AWS ecosystem (RDS/Aurora, S3, etc.), Docker, Terraform, EKS
