Senior Staff Software Engineer - Unity Catalog Runtime Enforcement

Overview
In this role you will lead the Runtime Enforcement effort for Unity Catalog, shaping secure data access across compute, engines, and clouds. You will mentor engineers, set scope and roadmaps, and run cross-org initiatives to improve reliability and governance at scale. You’ll drive multi-year programs, introduce automation tools, and help prevent production incidents. This is a hands-on technical leadership role at a company delivering mission-critical data infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Lead and grow the engineering team delivering runtime enforcement outcomes in a high-severity, cross-org domain; establish scope, SLAs, and phased roadmaps
- Establish single-source-of-truth scope, operating model, and durable mechanisms for enforcement
- Lead multi-year, multi-team initiatives that shape how Unity Catalog is enforced at runtime across compute types and engines
- Introduce tools to enable greater automation and operability of services
- Use deep experience to prevent and investigate production issues
- Plan and lead complex technical projects involving multiple teams
- Mentor team members, lead sprint planning, delegate work and participate in project planning
- 15+ years industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems
- Experience delivering multi-year vision with incremental deliverables
- Extensive experience building and maintaining distributed systems

- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience
