Senior Sustainability Engineer , Data Center Engineering Sustainability

In this role, you drive carbon reduction across AWS data centers in the EMEA region, partnering with the Sustainability and Design Engineering teams. You will implement tracking mechanisms for carbon throughout project lifecycles and own regional carbon outcomes, engaging with construction teams and suppliers to find reductions. You contribute to global carbon reduction initiatives and sustainability certifications, while communicating findings through clear design documents and reports. You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment that values bold ideas and practical solutions to achieve net-zero goals.

• Understand global AWS data center design and function
• Create and refine mechanisms to track carbon across project lifecycles
• Own regional carbon tracking and collaborate with construction teams and equipment suppliers to identify reductions
• Identify region-specific opportunities to reduce carbon on builds
• Propose and develop carbon reduction initiatives for global deployment
• Manage sustainability certifications for region-specific builds as required by permits or policy
• Support public policy engagement on sustainability issues with local authorities
• Produce design specifications, white papers, and reports
• Initiate and drive sustainability initiatives for future data center generations
• Contribute creative, practical solutions and maintain a positive, proactive mindset

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities
• Preferred: Professional Engineering or Architectural License
• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Policy or related field
• Preferred: knowledge of building codes and regulations for the region
• Preferred: experience reading and producing construction drawings, specifications, and submittals
• Preferred: familiarity with carbon technologies and decarbonization concepts
