Senior Systems Administrator

Intraworks is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our technical team in Nanaimo, BC.

This is a full-time, hybrid role for someone who enjoys variety, likes working directly with clients, and is comfortable taking ownership of both everyday IT needs and more complex technical challenges.

As a Senior Systems Administrator at Intraworks, you’ll manage the day-to-day IT needs of an assigned group of clients and become familiar with their businesses, users, and technology environments. You’ll work directly with your clients while being part of a broader technical team that works together to support all Intraworks clients.

What You’ll Do

This is a hands-on role covering the full range of managed IT support. Your day could include adding a new user, troubleshooting a printer, completing an onsite workstation installation, resolving a Microsoft 365 issue, working through a server or network problem, or taking the lead on a more complex infrastructure, cloud, or cybersecurity project.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and prioritizing client IT requests
• Troubleshooting hardware, software, Microsoft 365, Windows, network, and cloud issues
• Administering and supporting Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, and Windows environments
• Supporting servers, virtualization, networks, and other client infrastructure
• Completing onsite workstation, equipment, and infrastructure installations
• Supporting cybersecurity initiatives, including patch management, access controls, security best practices, and disaster recovery
• Taking the lead on more complex infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity projects
• Maintaining accurate client documentation and developing standard operating procedures
• Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to entry-level and intermediate technicians
• Collaborating with technicians, engineers, project managers, and other members of the Intraworks team to provide excellent client service

Senior team members are expected to be comfortable handling both routine support and more challenging technical work. We’re looking for someone who is just as willing to solve an everyday user issue as they are to dig into a more complex systems problem.

Intraworks operates its own datacenter and colocation facility in Nanaimo.

As part of the technical team, you may participate in the routine datacenter management rotation. This can include regular systems and facility checks, server and infrastructure maintenance, equipment installation, and other day-to-day tasks required to help keep the environment operating reliably.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent problem-solving, communication, and client service skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of experience managing client IT infrastructure, preferably within an MSP environment
• Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, and Windows environments
• Experience supporting servers, virtualization, networks, cloud environments, and end users
• Knowledge of network and system security best practices
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectivelyThe ability to take ownership of client needs and follow issues through to resolution
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a technical team
• Strong documentation and time-management skills
