Senior Systems Architect
IC Resources
Our client is a technology company developing communications systems and signal-processing IP for commercial wireless applications.
They are looking for a Senior System Architect to contribute to the architecture and development of communications products across software, FPGA and ASIC platforms.
The Senior System Architect will focus on translating system and product requirements into practical architectures, evaluating implementation trade-offs and working closely with DSP, software, FPGA and ASIC engineering teams. The position combines communications theory with architectural analysis, implementation support and verification, alongside opportunities to work directly with customers on technical integration.
What you will be working on
As a Senior System Architect, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and refining system architectures for 5G communications, modem and signal-processing products.
- Evaluating hardware/software partitioning and implementation approaches across software, FPGA and ASIC platforms.
- Analysing architectural trade-offs involving throughput, latency, processing resources, power consumption and system performance.
- Contributing to requirements capture, system decomposition, interface definition and architectural modelling.
- Working with FPGA and ASIC engineers to assess implementation strategies and resolve technical challenges.
- Supporting verification planning and integration activities throughout the development lifecycle.
- Using modelling and simulation to evaluate algorithms, architectural decisions and system performance.
- Engaging with customers and partners to understand technical requirements, explore integration approaches and support the deployment of communications IP.
What our client is looking for
For this Senior System Architect position, our client is looking for someone with experience in:
- 5G NR or 4G LTE physical-layer technologies, including a strong understanding of 3GPP RAN specifications and wireless communications systems.
- Communications signal processing, modem development or radio systems engineering.
- System architecture development, requirements analysis, hardware/software partitioning and interface definition.
- Evaluating architectural trade-offs involving performance, latency, throughput and implementation resources.
- FPGA and ASIC implementation considerations, including resource utilisation, power and verification requirements.
- System modelling, simulation and analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Python or C++.
- Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams across system architecture, development and verification.
Desirable experience includes satellite or Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) communications, hardware-accelerated DSP, fixed-point modelling, FPGA-to-ASIC migration and customer-facing technical integration.
Why consider this role?
This Senior System Architect opportunity offers involvement across the development lifecycle of commercial communications IP, from architectural analysis through to implementation and integration. The role provides exposure to both FPGA and ASIC technologies, with hybrid working, a performance-related bonus of up to 20%, EMI share options, pension and private health insurance.
