Senior Systems Engineer

In this role you will lead rail systems engineering activities within AECOM’s Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance team, guiding safety-compliant design across the infrastructure lifecycle. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams, shaping system definitions and requirements for complex rail projects. The position offers technical leadership, client collaboration, and the chance to influence safety and interoperability standards at scale. • Develop system engineering plans, define system requirements and architectures
• Oversee management of technical requirements using DOORS and ComplyPro
• Provide expertise on the relationship between system requirements and design
• Develop scope of works and work packages with clients, serving as senior technical resource
• Contribute specialized input to studies and design, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective work
• Collaborate in multi-disciplinary reviews of deliverables and prepare technical specifications
• Assist in cost estimation and scheduling input to meet project requirements
• Perform quality control reviews of calculations and drawings

• Engineering degree or equivalent
• Chartered Engineer
• Experience in railway systems safety and assurance, including system safety and interoperability
• Knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
