Senior Systems Engineer

In this role you will advance Saab UK’s radar and sensor capabilities, leading architecture and system design for PNT and distributed sensing. You will work within the Sensor Systems Radar team to drive innovation, define requirements, and guide cross-functional activities that improve timing, positioning, and data fusion across distributed networks. You will shape technical roadmaps, mentor engineers, and ensure robust verification through V&V campaigns. This is an opportunity to influence high-precision navigation and sensing solutions in a defence context, contributing to a scalable, secure, and cutting-edge radar ecosystem.

• Lead architectural design of PNT solutions integrating GNSS and INS
• Architect distributed sensing networks and data fusion for a unified operational picture
• Define system-level requirements, interfaces and performance specs
• Perform trade studies for size, weight, power and cost vs performance
• Implement high-precision timing distribution protocols (PTP/IEEE 1588, NTP, White Rabbit)
• Develop PNT resilience strategies for GNSS-denied environments and jamming/spoofing mitigation
• Lead selection/integration of atomic clocks, quantum oscillators, and high-grade IMUs
• Design algorithms for distributed beamforming and sensor fusion; manage latency and asynchronous data
• Develop V&V plans and lead hardware-in-the-loop/software-in-the-loop testing
• Mentor junior engineers; act as SME for PNT and Distributed Sensing across cross-functional teams

• Master in related field
• 5–10 years industrial radar/communications/electronic warfare experience
• 7+ years in systems engineering focusing on PNT and/or distributed sensors
• Proven experience with GNSS and Inertial Navigation (Kalman filtering, sensor fusion)
• Experience with distributed aperture systems, sensor networks or MIMO radar architectures
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and requirements management tools
• Familiar with ISO 15288:2023
• UK or Swedish citizenship for security clearances
