Senior Systems Engineer
Lockheed Martin
As a Systems Engineer, you will engage in planning, integration, verification and validation, and trade studies to translate requirements into total system solutions within cost and schedule constraints. You will work across concept, design, test, and deployment phases, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support large-scale defence programmes. The role focuses on complex, software-heavy systems with a significant hardware and RF/communications component, including uncrewed turret initiatives. Your impact includes shaping system architectures and verification frameworks to ensure robust performance in mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities- Perform systems engineering lifecycle activities from concept to disposal
- Lead functional, timeline, and trade studies; allocate requirements and define interfaces
- Plan and conduct verification & validation activities; develop V&A statements
- Analyse system capabilities, limitations, and behaviour at system level
- Support cost, schedule, risk analyses and embodiment of change proposals
- Translate customer requirements into hardware/software specifications for large-scale systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Special Projects and Platform Systems
- Experience of systems engineering lifecycle on large-scale programmes, ideally in the Command & Control domain
- Modeling and simulation experience (Matlab/Simulink)
- Experience with Verification and Validation lifecycle and creating V&A statements
- Knowledge of communications and RF network architectures
- Change proposal assessment and embodiment experience
- Working knowledge of Def-Stan, MIL-STD and industry best practices
- Understanding of system-level limitations and behaviours
