Overview

In this Senior Systems Engineer role, you will manage and evolve a large-scale compute and infrastructure stack supporting global trading and research. You’ll drive automation and IaC adoption while migrating workloads between platforms and expanding container-based workloads on Kubernetes. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain system reliability and enable self-service for hundreds of researchers and engineers. The role offers impactful work at scale, with on-call responsibilities and exposure to cutting-edge tooling. You will contribute to a culture that values automation, resilience, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and evolve compute infrastructure across VMware and OpenStack during migration
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux systems at scale with OS provisioning and BMC/iDRAC config
  • Advance automation with Terraform and Ansible toward full IaC coverage
  • Support and grow the Kubernetes platform, enabling containerised workloads
  • Diagnose and resolve complex infra issues under pressure with practical judgment
  • Build and contribute to self-service platforms for researchers and engineers
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota covering production environments
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality
Key requirements
  • Linux systems administration at scale (Ubuntu, RHEL)
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware vSphere, OpenStack)
  • Infrastructure-as-code/configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects and migrations
  • Ability to operate in partially automated environments and fix things by hand when needed
  • Scripting/automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes (production workloads)
  • Problem-solving under high pressure and seeing through incidents
  • Willingness to participate in on-call
