Senior Systems Engineer, Sarsen

In this Senior Systems Engineer role, you will lead technical ownership of cloud infrastructure services, applying systems engineering best practices to ensure high availability and scalability. You’ll diagnose complex issues, drive improvements across teams, and mentor others while shaping runbooks, deployment plans, and SOPs. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to automate processes and reduce toil, reinforcing a culture of operational excellence. This role combines hands-on Linux administration with strategic design and partner interactions to deliver reliable cloud services.

• Lead design, scoping, and prioritization discussions for services
• Diagnose root causes of customer issues and high-impact metrics
• Drive automation and operational excellence to simplify workloads
• Lead implementation reviews (designs, code, deployments, readiness)
• Mentor and coach teammates; recruit and interview for the team
• Develop and review runbooks and documentation for accuracy
• Improve service reliability, security, maintainability, and performance
• Coordinate with multiple teams to understand impact across services
• Optimize team processes to meet organizational goals
• Ensure capacity planning and efficiency through data-driven decisions

• Linux systems administration experience
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby or similar)
• Experience in network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes, Chef)
• Experience with logging/monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic, Splunk)
• Experience deploying identity and access management systems
• Preferred: Systems engineering/SRE experience at scale
• Preferred: building and operating systems in large-scale environments
