Senior Tech Lead

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Tech Lead / Development Manager to guide multiple product squads building a resilient, scalable, and secure cloud‑native settlement platform. This role combines architectural leadership, technical oversight, and hands‑on collaboration with senior engineers.

Location : Montreal

Type : Hybrid, 3 days on site per week

Key Responsibilities

• Define and govern event‑driven microservice architectures and integration patterns.
• Drive scalability, resilience, and performance using modern distributed‑system patterns.
• Standardize REST APIs and messaging strategies across teams.
• Lead data architecture spanning relational, NoSQL, caching, and data privacy considerations.
• Champion security best practices (OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, secrets management, encryption).
• Establish observability standards-metrics, logging, tracing, SLIs/SLOs.
• Enhance DevOps maturity (CI/CD, IaC, Kubernetes/AKS, blue/green & canary deployments).
• Enforce robust testing practices (unit, integration, contract, performance, chaos).
• Support cost optimization, capacity planning, and operational governance.
• Mentor engineering leads while contributing hands‑on to key technical decisions.

Required Skills

• 10+ years in distributed systems, including 4+ years in engineering leadership.
• Strong expertise in Java , Spring Boot , REST, and high‑volume messaging (Kafka or similar).
• Solid experience with public cloud environments (preferably Azure) including compute, networking, identity, data services, and monitoring.
• Deep knowledge of relational/NoSQL databases and caching models.
• Strong grounding in security, observability, DevOps tooling, and container orchestration.
• Experience with contract testing, cloud‑native performance testing, and resilience engineering.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Angular/React for end‑to‑end system oversight.
• Experience with stream processing frameworks (Flink, Spark, kSQL).
• Background in audit‑ready environments or globally distributed platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven track record leading high‑performing engineering teams delivering cloud‑based production systems.
• Excellent communication and architectural decision‑making skills.
