Senior Technical Product Manager, Mobile Apps

Overview

In this role you will own the roadmap for The Guardian’s mobile Apps Platform (iOS and Android), aligning platform priorities with product development squads. You will collaborate with engineering, data and other stakeholders to identify platform opportunities and balance business, technical, and UX needs. You’ll anticipate mobile OS changes to keep apps at the forefront and drive value by reducing maintenance, enhancing security, and improving developer experience. This is a mission-driven, cross-functional leadership role in a diverse, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Own and align the iOS/Android platform roadmap with product development teams and prioritize trade-offs
  • Collaborate with engineering, data and other stakeholders to identify new platform opportunities
  • Balance business requirements, technical needs and UX when prioritising the team’s work
  • Identify upcoming Mobile OS changes to shape the roadmap
  • Demonstrate value delivery by reducing cognitive load, maintenance overhead and improving security and reliability
  • Analyse user data and KPIs to identify improvements and measure impact of platform delivery on developer experience
  • Treat internal tools as products: define users, collect feedback and share successes
Key requirements
  • Extensive experience in technical product management, ideally within digital media, publishing or commercial platforms
  • Proven technical product leadership with strong partnership with engineering and data teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to deeply understand engineer pain points
  • Data-informed mindset with experience using performance metrics to guide decisions
