Senior Test & Development Engineer

In this role you drive the validation, verification and development of gensets and BESS, ensuring quality, reliability and regulatory compliance. You will lead cross-functional testing programs and support NPI while mentoring junior engineers. The position blends technical leadership with hands-on testing to turn customer requirements into robust solutions. You will work across multiple projects, shaping testing methodologies and process improvements. This is a senior role at JCB World Headquarters with a clear impact on product quality and innovation.

• Lead validation and verification programmes for Genset and BESS products
• Plan, coordinate and execute complex development and test activities
• Manage testing programs in line with standards and regulatory requirements
• Produce detailed technical test reports and documentation
• Investigate issues and perform root cause analysis with corrective actions
• Lead prototype development with cross-functional teams
• Support NPI through innovation and validation
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and apprentices
• Improve test methodologies and engineering processes
• Prioritize activities across multiple projects
• Act as technical contact for stakeholders, suppliers and partners
• Coordinate third-party test facilities and logistics
• Provide technical support for production issues and engineering changes
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent HND experience
• Experience with generating sets or battery storage systems
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
• Experience with ISO 8528 test methods and standards
• Working knowledge of genset and BESS software, including PLC logic
• Qualified to work safely on AC, LV DC and HV DC systems
• Experience with control systems and electrical control panel wiring
• Problem-solving skills with root cause analysis (e.g., 8D)
• Experience with J1939 and Modbus communication protocols
• Proficient with electronic testing equipment (oscilloscopes, load banks, data loggers, CAN tools, insulation resistance testers, impedance testers, metering equipment)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality results
