Overview

In this role you will lead traffic control engineering projects for public and private clients, applying specialist design and advisory services across the project lifecycle. You will work within the Technology Services team to deliver technical solutions that integrate traffic technology with civil works, contributing to major UK transport initiatives. You will mentor colleagues, ensure compliance with UK standards, and support bids and delivery of high-quality outcomes. This role offers impact across transport networks and urban environments.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist traffic control design and consultancy for internal and external clients
  • Create design packages including layouts, reports, ITS1827 forms, MOVA data sets, and works specifications for junctions and crossings
  • Contribute to RAMS, hazard logs and technical assurance
  • Support implementation through FAT, SAT and MOVA validation workflows
  • Prepare responses to technical queries and participate in gate reviews
  • Collaborate with highways, structures, drainage, geotechnical, environment and traffic teams
  • Attend client meetings across the UK and mentor junior team members
  • Ensure compliance with UK standards (DMRB, TSM, TSRGD), CDM 2015 and Safe by Design
  • Support programme, cost and risk management; contribute to bids and technical proposals
  • Quality-check deliverables against client briefs and AECOM procedures
Key requirements
  • BEng in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of latest traffic control design standards and applications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civils3D; ability to produce ITS1827 forms and MOVA designs/data sets
  • NHSS8 / HERS registered
  • Experience in traffic control engineering design and MOVA control
  • Design skills in MOVA and SCOOT at junction and corridor level
