Overview

In this Senior Traffic Control Engineer role, you will lead specialist traffic control design and consultancy for UK and international clients. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary Technology Services team to deliver design packages, technical assurance, and implementation support across junctions and corridors. You’ll collaborate with highways, structures, and client teams to integrate technology with civil works while ensuring UK standards and safety guidelines. This position offers the chance to shape traffic solutions for public and private sector projects and contribute to transformative transportation initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist traffic control design and consultancy for internal and external clients
  • Produce design packages including layout drawings, reports, ITS1827 forms, MOVA data sets and works specifications
  • Contribute to RAMS, hazard logs and technical assurance
  • Provide implementation support via FAT, SAT and MOVA, bus priority, SCOOT validation
  • Prepare and respond to technical queries, deviations, and gate reviews
  • Collaborate with highways, structures, drainage, geotechnical, environment, and traffic teams
  • Attend meetings and engage with clients across the UK
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Ensure compliance with UK standards and guidance (DMRB, TSM, TSRGD), CDM 2015 and Safe by Design
  • Support programme, cost, and risk management; contribute to bids and technical proposals
  • Quality check deliverables against client briefs and AECOM procedures
Key requirements
  • BEng in Electrical, Electronics, or Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of latest traffic control design standards and implementation processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civils3D; ability to produce MOVA designs and data sets
  • NHSS8 / HERS registered
  • Experience in MOVA control; design skills in MOVA and SCOOT at junction/corridor level
